Bicheno Seascape Photos

Here are a few shots from Bicheno on Tasmania’s east coast. I haven’t shot a lot there over the years – something I will have to rectify sometime soon! There is a really nice rocky point out beyond the Silver Sands resort where I went for a sunset shoot one night a year or so back. The wind was quite strong, so protecting the lens and filters from sea-spray was basically the toughest bit.

Bicheno on Tasmania’s east coast. Really nice spot for dramatic seascapes.

Lots of nice features in the rocks for interesting compositions.

As dusk fell, the colour failed to appear but the long exposure created a nice seascape and the dark clouds made for a nice brooding atmosphere.

Even on the east coast there are a few good vantage spots for sunsets, and this would be one of them. Coles Bay at Freycinet and the Bay of Fires also offer some great sunset (and sunrise) photography locations. The following morning I went around near the Blowhole, and again missed out on some really great light but still had an intersting morning as the waves crashed over the granite.

Early morning near the Blowhole. Lots of great opportunities for catching waves as they crash on the rocky coastline.

This was basically the only colour of the shoot, pre dawn. All in all a good reccie, and will be back another time!

Obviously a nice fiery sky would have really set things off well but seascapes and the crashing of water is always rewarding to shoot…
