Cradle Mountain Photography Tour
Cradle Mountain is without a doubt right near the top of every visiting photographers list of “must-shoots” in Tasmania. The conditions at Cradle Mountain range from idyllic and still with magnificent mirror like reflections of the mountain in Dove Lake to wild and windy where only the brave dare venture into the outdoors.
The weather is always going to be a major factor in any outdoor photographic shoot, and that’s what makes capturing that postcard perfect image of Cradle Mountain proudly reflected in Dove Lake such an achievement. If the weather isn’t cooperating, we will undertake short walks in the rainforest - there is nothing more beautiful than shiny green moss and lichen inside the wonderful Tasmanian rainforest.
Immerse yourself in ancient myrtle and king billy rainforest. Gaze at the fascinating pandani and buttongrass that grows along Ronny Creek. Listen to the roar of waterfalls and cascading creeks that flow through one of the world’s largest temperate wildernesses. What do you mean there’s nothing to see if the weather’s bad?

Cost: $795.00 per person (includes All Transport, One Night Accommodation (based on twin share), National Parks Entry, Lunch & Dinner Day 1, Breakfast & Lunch Day 2, Wilderness Gallery entry).

Tour note: The exact time of the dusk & dawn shoots will vary depending on the time of sunrise and sunset of the tour. We will spend at least one hour in the field for each shoot. Dove Lake is approximately 20 minutes from the Cradle Mountain Transit Centre. Check Hobart Sunrise Sunset times.
Photography: We will spend all afternoon on Day 1 immersing ourselves in the World Heritage Listed splendour of the Cradle Mountain National Park. After dinner we will drive to Dove Lake for a dusk shoot. On Day 2 we will either walk the Dove Lake Circuit or undertake short walks at Waldheim and near the Park Entrance.
The Dove Lake Circuit is approximately 2.5 hours walking at a reasonable pace. We have 4 hours to complete the walk so there will be short opportunities to stop and compose some shots. Dove Lake circuit may be substituted for slow paced short walks around Waldheim and the Cradle Mt Lodge upon agreement by ALL participants in the group.
Weather: Cradle Mountain can present any type of weather at any time of year. Please check Cradle Mountain weather forecast carefully before the tour departs and bring windproof and waterproof gear, including umbrella, just in case.
Driving Times: Cradle Mountain is approximately 4.5 hours driving time from Hobart. We will stop for lunch around noon on Day 1. Dinner on Day 2 (back in Hobart) is not included in the price of the tour.
