Moonrise Cradle Mountain
Moonrise at Cradle Mountain over the peaceful buttongrass moors. January 2019 brought with it a “supermoon” – a full moon which is apparently a little larger than usual. I don’t think its really that noticeable really, but it gets a few headlines 🙂
I was up at Cradle Mountain over those dates and captured an amazing moonrise right on dusk. Instead of going the wide angle I attached the 70-200mm, got down low and juxtaposed it among the buttongrass.
This was a very enjoyable moment in nature, something I value very highly and enjoy sharing with guests on my trips. As you have no doubt heard Tasmania is experiencing some shocking bushfires right now, many started by lightning strikes in buttongrass moors just like this one all across the tinder dry south west and central plateau. Fingers crossed these fires come under control soon and best wishes to the firies doing all they can to fight them.
