Tour Notes

Sunset is approx 19:00 and sunrise is approx 7:30 in April.

We will spend around one-two hours in the field for each of these shoots meaning it will be dark prior to sunrise/after sunset. We will not do a sunrise session after the night sky session.

We will only undertake easy hiking, the main aim of the workshop being tuition and shooting time. It is important to note of course that the nature of the workshop involves uneven rocky shorelines so please take care in the low light of dusk and dawn. The hike to Wineglass Bay is up to 45 minutes one way but the track is of a very high standard.

** Please take all care and responsibility for your own equipment while outdoors **

Tasmania’s east coast generally enjoys fairly mild weather, however it would be well worthwhile packing an extra layer or two in particular for sunrise and sunset sessions. A good sunhat and sun protection is recommended too. Please check the St Helens weather forecast carefully before the tour departs to get an idea of expected conditions and pack accordingly. An umbrella can be a useful piece of equipment too, especially if you enjoy macro photography. A detailed list of suggested items to bring will be forwarded prior to departure.

Driving Time: St Helens is approximately 3.5 hours driving time from Hobart. We will break the drive with a couple of stops and have lunch on arrival. The drive from the hotel to Binalong Bay is 10 minutes; to St Columba Falls is approx 40 minutes; and to Eddystone Point is close to 60 minutes.
St Columba Falls

A half day in the beautiful rainforest at St Columba Falls is another highlight
