What to Bring
- Camera, tripod and accessories. Don’t forget chargers and spare batteries/memory cards!
- Wet weather gear (for yourself and for your camera). Warm clothing and head-torch for the sunrise/sunset shoots. Sun protection.
- Comfortable hiking shoes (not sneakers).
- Water bottle/snacks for our sessions in the field.
- A full list of suggested items and a detailed itinerary will be forwarded to you during the booking process.
Sunset is approx 17:45 in April.
We will stay out on the coast for sunset and return to the hotel for dinner after sunset. The drive from the coast to the hotel is 45~60 minutes.
We will only undertake easy hiking, the main aim of the workshop being tuition and shooting time. It is important to note of course that the nature of the workshop involves uneven rocky shorelines so please take care in the low light of dusk. The hike to Philosopher Falls is up to 40 minutes one way but the track is of a very good standard.
** Please take all care and responsibility for your own equipment while outdoors **
The Tarkine is a remote area in the far north west of Tasmania which means all sorts of weather is possible. Please check the Marrawah weather forecast before the tour departs for an idea on what to expect on the coast. A raincoat and rain pants should be considered essential, as well as lots of warm clothing including thermal layers and possibly a down jacket for extra warmth and comfort. An umbrella can be a useful piece of equipment too, especially if you enjoy macro photography. A full list of suggested/recommended gear will be provided during the booking process.
