Mt Field & Styx Valley Tour Highlights

I have run a fair few of my Mt Field and Styx Valley tours over the past few months and thought I’d share a few of the photographic highlights. Spring is always a good time of year to photograph the rainforest as there is plenty of water on the waterfalls and the new growth of ferns and flowers alike burst to life. The little orchids on the forest floor are also a particular seasonal highlight. This year, even in late December, things remain reasonably cool and wet so evidently the La Nina is having an effect, so book now to enjoy this day trip yourself 🙂

The day starts with a morning walk through Mt Field photographing the well known waterfalls – Russell & Horseshoe.

A bright red fungi against the deep green moss. Given we dont have holly here in Tasmania, this might need to serve as our Christmas colours emblem 🙂

As well as marveling at the forest giants, it is well worthwhile keeping your eyes on the ground and looking for the secrets of the forest floor
