Tasmanian Masked Owl at the Raptor Refuge
This young Tasmanian masked owl is the newest resident at the Raptor Refuge in Tasmania. Named “Montgomery”, the 2 month old is growing daily into his adult form, and these images capture the last of his youthful “fluff” which is giving way to reveal the common colouring of the adult Masked Owl.
As many of you would know, many of my photographs are used by the Raptor Refuge in their annual calendar. The 2016 calendar is now basically sold out (you might find one still available somewhere) which means a lot of money has been raised to support the refuge as it looks after injured raptors, and raises healthy young guys like Monty. It is a pretty safe bet to expect at least one of these will be in next years calendar!
Those interested in Tasmania’s raptors, and wishing to support the work done down at the Raptor Refuge should consider becoming a member, or joining a private photography session at the refuge. Details on membership are on the Raptor Refuge website.
