Seasons Greetings!
Hi everyone, I hope 2024 has been wonderful and for you all and you are ready for a relaxing Christmas and New Year break.
It has been quite a busy year for my little photography business, and I’d like to share a few of the highlights with you as we gear up for an exciting 2025!
New Book – Timeless Tasmania
Obviously the biggest news of 2024 is publishing my second book, Timeless Tasmania, so a big thank you to Ian for the design work and arranging the printing, and for everyone who has so far purchased a copy (and FYI – I still have plenty so feel free to order one anytime!)
Japan Trip and Tour Planning
Midori and I spent a few weeks in Japan this Nov/Dec and as well as enjoying time out to catch up with friends and family over there, we also put plans in place for my first photography tour outside of Tasmania, and what we came up with was 10 days in Tohoku during the beautiful autumn leaves season.
All those details are online now, and the tour is almost fully booked, so if you are keen to come please let me know!
Partnering Up
I have had the opportunity this year to partner up with other tourism businesses to run experiences, notably the Tasman Hotel’s Skygazer experience where we made the most of the dark winter nights to view the night sky including the brilliant Milky Way and the occasional glow of an aurora for very lucky guests.
Next year I am partnering with Corinna to present a few days photographing fungi – those details are online now too!
Aurora Australis
I have been shooting the aurora in Tasmania for over 10 years, but 2024 had two amazing displays the likes of which I have never experienced. Back in May we had the show of a lifetime, and then again in October there was an almost equally impressive – although much shorter – display.
Tasmanian Photography Tours
As usual autumn and early winter are my busiest time. 2024 was my busiest yet, and I am looking forward to running lots of trips in 2025 too. I have revamped my website a little and added lots of new dates. Feel free to take a look at the dates, and I hope to see you in Tasmania in the new year!
Western Arthurs Trip
One of my “bucket list” locations is/was the Western Arthurs, including Lake Oberon – a remote and rugged range in the South West. This year was the year it finally happened, so a big thanks to Mark for getting it all organised!
We were blessed with some really lovely light, delightful light mist on top of the range, and stary skies over Lake Cygnus. Unfortunately for me I didn’t quite make it to Lake Oberon, but it was an amazing trip nonetheless. You can read about the trip here (Part 1) and here (Part 2).
Thanks everyone!
Again, a big heartfelt thank you to all those who have been a part of my photographic travels around Tasmania – and from next year, Japan too! All the best for Christmas and 2025 wherever you are in the world. I hope you have a great 2025 🙂
