Sunrise Clifton Beach

I recently shot this stunner of a sunrise down at Clifton Beach.

On arrival some fairly dark and brooding clouds greeted us. I crossed my fingers, at this point thinking even if there aren’t any great sunrise colours there should be a few nice wave crashes under a menacing sky…

It was something of a “slow burner” – quite overcast and grey on arrival, a sliver of pink entered the sky and gradually caught fire over a large part of the sky.

Slowly some pink appears above the cliffs at the far end of the beach

The pink and orange slowly began to spread…

I have shot here before but this was a particularly nice morning 🙂

…before exploding across the sky!

Finally, as the colour started to fade, I turned the camera sideways for a portrait shot of the scene 🙂

Clifton Beach is around 30 minutes from Hobart on the South Arm Highway. There are two beach access points, one right at the end of Clifton Beach Rd (where it is a short stroll to the rocks at the southern end of the beach where these shots were taken. The other is up towards Cape Deslacs (the cliffs/headland you can see at the other end of the beach in these photos). Click here for the location on Google Maps 🙂
