The snow in Hobart has been a major talking point this week, and with many of the roads closed I took a quick drive to Lindisfarne this morning to shoot a snow capped Mt Wellington at sunrise. The Tasman Bridge of course was looking splendid all lit up pre-dawn until the beautiful pink dawn took over. Here are the results 🙂
The Tasman Bridge lit up pre dawn this morning, with a snowy Mt Wellington an impressive background. Early morning long exposure with no filters.
The “blue hour”, just before the burst of colour at sunrise. Long exposure, no filter.
A 5.5 minute long exposure at sunrise, with a 10 stop ND filter. Lovely pink clouds skidded across the sky for a long while this morning, allowing for this extra long exposure with my trust B+W 10 stopper.
Shot after my 10 stop long exposure, this is an in camera “Interval Composite” of 40 images as the sky continued to brighten and the sunrise colours turned more to orange.
After the sunrise I put on my 70-200 mm for a closer view. The colour by now was done and dusted, so here is a black and white of a snowy Mt Wellington.
Anyone visiting Hobart or Tasmania this week should make sure to check for road closure information, in particular if planning a visit to the popular National Parks such as Mt Field or Cradle Mountain. Tasmania Police have a regularly updated list of road closures.
