Tessellated Pavements: Landscapes Gallery Photo of the Month

Tasmanian Photography: Tessellated Pavements

Tessellated Pavements – Dawn at Eaglehawk Neck

The image featured this month is a steely grey dawn at the well known Tessellated Pavement at Eaglehawk Neck. This location is a favourite among Tasmanian photographers and the traditional image is the strong cracks and lines of the “pavement” leading the eye to a stunning sunrise sky filled with reds and yellows and other wonderful photographic delights.

I would probably be lying if I told you that I wasn’t aiming for one such shot this morning but the conditions in the field always dictate the terms and there was simply no pre-dawn joy this day. The greys however contain their own atmosphere, and the absence of the “traditional” features pushes the photographer to look for something a little different.

I am presenting this image precisely because it is unlike any I have previously taken or seen at this very popular location. Hope you enjoy!
