Upper Florentine Valley World Heritage Area

The Upper Florentine Valley World Heritage Area contains magnificent tall eucalypts and dark green myrtle and sassafras rainforest. After years of campaigning the area was added to the World Heritage Area in June 2013, but the anti-environment Liberal party (both federal and state) are feverishly pushing to delist these forests to once again open them up to logging.

On Sunday April 27 there is a community gathering in the Upper Florentine to send a message to the World Heritage Commission that Australians do not support delisting these precious wild forests of their World Heritage status.

I cannot make it on the day but am presenting these images taken just before easter as my contribution to the cause. I hope the day is a great success! These images were taken from The Needles, after the sunrise over Mt Field and Maydena, the play of light and mist on the emergant tall trees of the World Heritage Area was a sight to behold.
