Hartz Mountains National Park

The Hartz Mountains are south west of Hobart, the main peaks being Hartz Peak & Mt Snowy, with a ridge called the Devils Backbone running along as a backdrop between the start of the walk and the Pass below the main peaks (Hartz Pass). There are a number of tarns nestled in between the track and the Devils Backbone which make for a nice short walk in their own right.

The walk was surprisingly short, which made for more time on the pass. Cloud came and went all afternoon and evening, and made for some nice long exposure shots of mist running over distant peaks, and it was nice up on the dolerite peak in the mist. The mist sunk down low overnight, and in fact the entire south west was convered in a sea of clouds, only a few peaks here and there poking their heads up through the cloud.
