Secret Falls
The now rather ironically named Secret Falls has become something of a social media sensation. It is a beautiful little cascade, only 2 or 3 metres high, but its location a short distance from Hobart in the foothills of Mt Wellington has made it a bit of a must see destination for photographers.
The past summer has been very hot and dry in Tasmania and this fall slowed to the faintest of trickles. Happily, the rains have returned in the past few weeks and Tasmania’s waterfalls are full of very heavy flows again – meaning now is a perfect time for photographing waterfalls!
I visited Secret Falls recently and was very pleased to capture these shots. As it has been photographed so often, an original composition becomes harder to come by, but the high water created this lovely foreground swirl which filled up the foreground very nicely.
As a contrast – the falls from a few months ago.
