Epic Hobart sunset last night…

Well we sure were treated to an epic Hobart sunset last night weren’t we… Lots of high level cloud and a mostly clear sky had me throwing my gear in the car for a quick drive to Bellerive in anticipation of something special… and boy it was good, check out some short footage (phone camera) below 🙂

Sunset Hobart March 4 2014 from Luke O’Brien on Vimeo.

Bellerive is pretty much my default location for a sunset shoot, and co-incidentally, where I hold my sunset photography workshop “Hobart & Surrounds“. I took a series of shots as the colour changed, mostly with my 10 stop B+W neutral density filter, which I present to you below.

Late afternoon sky over Hobart last night

7:32pm – Late afternoon sky over Hobart – looking at these clouds I was pretty sure of myself 🙂

7:38pm – The sun is down and the scene is set…

7:44pm – I have sorted out my composition, now all I need is some colour… By now I am shooting with the 10 stop ND filter. This exposure was 30 seconds.

7:57pm, starting to get dark now and so far no real colour on the scene…

Magnificent Hobart Sunset Shoot March 4 2014

8:02pm: Magnificent! One of the most spectacular sunsets I have shot. The colour lingered there for more than 5 minutes. It was amazing 🙂
