Mt Paris Dam
There are a lot of hidden gems in Tasmania’s north east. A major one is the Mt Paris dam, on the back road from Branxholm to Weldborough.
The area has a great deal of rich mining heritage, and this dam was built during the 1930’s. Dotted throughout the north east forests are water races, historic relics and old mine shafts. It is certainly an advantage to have a local guide showing you around, as I did with Christine and Graham from the Tin Dragon Trail Cottages.
Deep in the north east forests, there is a lot to see. The rainforests are beautiful, full of ferns, fast flowing streams and waterfalls, and towering myrtles. Planning is underway for a north east Tasmania/Blue Tier photography workshop, most likely at fungi time next year. Watch this space 😉
