Cascade River north east Tasmania

Cascade River cascades

Downstream from the Mt Paris Dam on the Cascade River are some lovely, well, cascades.

The Mt Paris Dam is a great destination in its own right but if you’ve got the time and you don’t mind navigating some slippery rocks on a barely there trail, a meander downstream along the Cascade River is a great way to spend a few hours.

North east Tasmania is well know for the Bay of Fires coast, but the forests inland are amazing and are really deserving of some of your time. The short walks to St Columba Falls and Halls Falls, and even the short rainforest walk on the highway near Weldborough are easy to find, but the Mt Paris Dam, the Blue Tier Giant, and many other locations are well worth seeking out too.

Cascades and green mossy boulders – great stuff 🙂

Another shot of some cascades and green mossy boulders – these are a few of my favourite things!

A short way down the river is a nice little waterfall. Only a few metres high, but a nice sight as it cascades between the boulders.

Pro tip – pack some gumboots or sandals so you don’t have to worry about getting your feet wet 😉
