Cape Tourville

Cape Tourville is a wonderful short walk in the Freycinet National Park. It offers outstanding views of the Hazards, Freycinet Peninsula and north to the Friendly Beaches. It is also the easiest way to get a glimpse of Wineglass Bay – seen in the image below as the sandy beach right in the middle, between the Hazards and the peninsula.

Dawn, from Cape Tourville at Freycinet National Park

These shots are all from a sunrise shoot up there recently, which resulted in almost a full sky of colour. The sky out east was orange and fiery while the views to the south and south west were more subdued but included a stunning pink.

The lookout is around 100 metres above sea level and there is also a lighthouse to visit there too. The walk is only around 600 metres and will take around 15-20 minutes to walk. It is a fantastic vantage point for photography – sunrise obviously as it is on Tasmania’s east coast, but it is also a stunning night sky location – those photos will be coming soon 😉
