Dusk at the Cradle Mountain Boatshed

A major highlight of my Cradle Mountain photography workshops is sunrise and sunset down at Dove Lake. On my last trip back in June, the mountain had a nice layer of snow, and dusk at the boat shed brought some very subtle and muted colours.

Dusk falls on the familiar scene – Dove Lake, the boatshed and a snowy Cradle Mountain

These shots were taken with my 10 stop ND filter which softened the water making the reflections more distinct and the clouds start to streak. I rather liked the small tree in the bottom right of the frame too 🙂

300 second exposure. Right on cue as the light and colour faded, the curtain – and clouds – fell over the scene and a very pleasant shoot was at an end. This was a 5 minute exposure, the last of the evening.

My next Cradle Mountain trip runs in early October and there are a couple of places still available. Click here to check out the details and book one of the last places!
