Gold Creek Revisited
Gold Creek falls is a real hidden gem of the Styx Valley. It’s a shame access is quite messy as it could be a big part of a grander plan for attracting big tree tourists to the area.
On my previous visit I found my way to the base of the main fall. This time however, we went up above the main fall to find a waterfall wonderland – basically two forks of the river converge at the main waterfall, but both forks of the river contain their own very impressive waterfalls! So its three for the price of one here, a real Waterfall Valley.
Access is short but steep, and untracked, starting in a logged area. With water levels high in the creek at the moment we could easily hear the waterfalls so basically just made our way down, then upstream to the main fall which was really full of water and hard to photograph. From there we clambered up above the main fall to find the scene in the video below.
Access is described in more detail on the Waterfalls of Tasmania website. It looks like there is also a lower Gold Creek falls, will have to check that one out next time 🙂
